Italy and France-summertime wrap
Italy
has the Passo Stelvio. There are others of course but Stelvio is worthy of the most consideration. It is on the pass between Bormio and Meran (also with a glacier of its
own). There are a small number of very good hotels both on the pass and on the roads leading up to it from either side. Just about every hotel has its own ski school, so once you’re up there, you’re up there if you know what I mean. It’s an all inclusive type atmosphere.
France of course has the glacier at Tignes, a super layout for skiing under the summer sun. Bet you didn’t know though that Val D’Isere has its own summer ski area, didya? Well it has. It’s not as extensive as Tignes (few places are) but there it is anyway. Tignes in summer has everything going for it except Tignes in summer.
If you don’t want mountain sports bro, this ain’t your destination. But if you do there are few mountain bases with better offerings.
Soooo the gang’s not all here, but this is not the summer-ski version of “War and Peace” either. However these words should at least give you a basic idea of what sloes are available in Europe during the warmer months. If you want more info contact yours truly or any one of the advertisers or tourist offices in these, er, pages
